This Giant Chicken Escaped from Jurassic Park

So Twitter is losing its mind this morning over a chicken. But not just any chicken, the Godzilla of chickens. It’s a chicken you’re more likely to see at Jurassic Park than at a farm. It’s the kind of chicken that foxes tell stories about to scare their kids. It completely flips the definition of “chicken” meaning “cowardly” to “destroyer of worlds”

This obvious cousin to the T-Rex is actually a Brahma chicken, often referred as the “King of All Poultry”. While there are some disputes over this massive foul’s origin, it’s said they were bred in America from large chickens imported from China in the 1800s. We’ll assume the Brahma species terrorized their homeland as some kind of Chinese version of Godzilla.

From the mid-1850s until the 1930s, they were popular as food. If you had the strength to beat one in battle so they wouldn’t eat you. Rarer these days, they’re most often show birds and not for eating, like the one in the video.

The females weigh around 10-14 pounds, with the males reaching up to 18 pounds. Let’s expect that with enough time to bulk up, they’ll be chasing Chris Pratt around in the Jurrasic World sequel.
