Forget New York’s 2017 Fashion Week. The 14th NY Pet Fashion Show is Much More Adorable and Amazing

New York’s 2017 Fashion Week would not be complete without a literal cat walk. The 14th Annual NY Pet Fashion Show presented by TropiClean at the Hotel Pennsylvania commenced Thursday February 9th with over 150 high fashion four legged models. Taking place ahead of the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show, the show boasts an all-inclusive cast of animal models, made all the more apparent with the Kennels cat-controversy happening this year.

“Global Couture for Animal Rescue” was the evening’s theme. Pets dressed in elaborate costumes inspired by cultures around the globe strutted down the catwalk. The show is billed as the country’s largest charitable pet fashion show. Tickets for the event ranged from 60$ for a single ticket at the door to table reservations upwards of 750$ with proceeds from the show donated to the Mayor’s Alliance for NYC’s Animals. Good news for the charity since more than 700 people showed up for the event.

Check out some cute cat and dog pics in elaborate outfits below.

Pet fashion designer Anthony Rubio walked with 9 year old model and actress Briella Simpson and his two Chihuahuas Bogie and Kimba. They were representing the United Kingdom with all four wearing Rubio’s McQueen inspired designs.

Rubio also showcased his 2017 line on the Art Hearts Fashion platform at the Angel Orensanz Foundation on February 13th.

Yeyush and Renzo the Chihuahua’s are pictured above representing France. Darlene Hachey designed the outfits while the sunglasses are by pet fashion designer and animal rights activist Ada Nieves.

Princess Pussywillow makes an appearance as a literal Cat in a Hat. Princess Pussywillow’s entourage included feline model companion Princess Snowflake and three generations of women representing Armenia. The clothing, all handmade by the women, were embroidered with the date April 24, 1915 to commemorate the Armenian genocide of 1915. The statement alongside the women’s beautiful handiwork reminds us of the poignant moments which exist within fashion week.

We cannot say enough about the terrific individuals who put this show on last night. @nypetfashionshow traditionally kicks off #NYFW bringing designers and brands together for a good cause. The exciting event gives fur fashionistas and their human counterparts an opportunity to have fun while the proceeds benefit shelter animals. We've volunteered with and adopted from shelters for many years. While stomping the runway and having our photo taken is awesome, we do not lose sight of the cause. We encourage anyone who can to adopt. We also encourage any of our amazing IG friends and family to get involved in any way you can next year! It's a scene and it's FUN! There's great vendors to shop (um, we spent some cash last night bc we couldn't resist the cuteness overload of style happening here) and opportunity in abundance to shop, promote or just come and ogle the adorableness. Hope to see you next year! *(thank you @DailyMail for the beautiful 📸& the for the publication📰)
